The Keepsake Blue Shell & Pearl Pendant was made for the woman who collected seashells as a child with someone she's lost — a grandmother, a father, a sister — and who has kept a jar of them on her dresser her entire adult life.
The pendant is a teardrop-shaped shell — modeled on the inside of a small conch — in muted blue enamel over sterling silver. The spiral lines of the shell curl inward toward a single small freshwater pearl set at the center, like the pearl is nesting inside. 18k gold plating frames the edges of the shell. A fine cable chain, 18 inches. The blue is vintage — the color of stained glass, not plastic.
When I imagine you wearing it, I imagine the first trip back to the beach after the funeral. You put the necklace on before you leave the hotel. You spend an hour on the sand alone. You find a real shell, put it in your pocket, and walk back to the car.
