The First Year Green Opal Branch Ring was made for the widow who has found comfort in strange places in the first year — in tree bark, in moss, in the slow shape of things that don't hurry.
The band is two twisted branches of metal that grow around the finger until they meet at the top — one branch from each side, knotting together to cradle the stone between them. At the join, a green opal cabochon sits flat against the skin, catching green, gold, and flash depending on the light. The branches are textured to look like real bark, not smooth. 316L stainless or sterling silver, depending on variant.
When I imagine you wearing it, I imagine sitting on the porch on a late-summer evening. You're not reading. You're not doing anything. You're watching the opal change color as the sun goes down, and you realize you've been still for twenty minutes without trying. The branches on your finger match the ones on the oak in the yard.
